Days Inn Ku Lawrence

Good location near downtown restaurants and venues. Very cheap, but you get what you pay for, i.e: '70's carpet, small holes in walls, unfinished light fixtures with highlighter decor, trash in drawers, and a clearly-marked "No Smoking" room that we were told was ok to smoke in. Overall though, despite all of it's flaws, it did serve it's purpose. We were only about a mile away from our venue downtown. While the lobby was clean, it smelled as if the clerks were cooking something very strong in the back. The staff was professional, but the smell of the lobby made me not take advantage of the free breakfast. There were several poorly repaired holes in the drywall. I suppose Lawrence being a college town, damage to the walls is probably frequent. Yet, the repairs were very poor. The tile in the bathroom, for example was really bad. Good place for a short stay for people doing outdoor activities not worried about a clean comfortable stay. Average coffee and poor breakfast. Comfortable beds.

Would only recommend to someone tight on budget needing a good location and wireless. Check in & check out was easy because of priceline, but there were weird people hanging around outside the hotel rooms. One of the clean towels had a hair on it, carpet still had crumbs on the floor and also on and in bed. Actually ended up sleeping on top of it with my own blanket. Woke up with congestion due to smoke previously in the room even though non-smoking. Supposedly it was renovated, but definitely not enough to make someone want to stay there.
